Moon Township Garbage/Recycling Collection Changes
HOLIDAY WEEK SOLID WASTE/RECYCLING COLLECTION SCHEDULE
The pick up of solid waste/recycling will be one day late after holidays observed by waste hauler. If the holiday falls on a weekend, then the garbage/recycling pickup will follow its normal schedule, it will not be delayed a day.
Grass Clipping Disposal
MTMA requests that customers who bag grass clippings for landfill disposal fill trash bags only 1/2 full. Full bags are very heavy and can cause worker injury. Full bags can also break. All bags must weigh less than 40 pounds.
MTMA suggests customers cut grass frequently enough so that bagging clippings is not necessary. Grass clippings provide nitrogen to benefit the soil, feeding your lawn. Leaving clippings on the lawn reduces the need to fertilize. Less frequent fertilizing benefits the environment.
MTMA encourages residents who collect grass clippings to compost grass and leaf waste on their own property or in the Moon Township compost program. Grass clippings in paper bags, or loose, may be placed in the compost pile with leaves at Moon Park. Plastic bags are not allowed.
Grass clippings put out with the trash go into a landfill.
